This is an Operation Encompass school - Making the next day better
Operation Encompass shares the right information with our school, so we understand what is affecting the child following an incident of domestic abuse. This enables us to give support and make sure they feel safe and included in school.
Safeguarding and Child Protection
The welfare and care of our pupils is of paramount importance, and it is the responsibility of the school to safeguard all pupils. We aspire to provide a safe and welcoming environment where our children are respected and valued by all. Our commitment ensures that we act swiftly and adhere to established policy and procedures to guarantee that children receive effective support and protection.
School staff play a pivotal role in identifying indicators of potential abuse or neglect through daily contact with pupils and direct engagement with families. Parents should be aware that should a member of staff suspect that a child may have been abused, the school is obliged, as part of local child protection procedures, to report these concerns to Social Care Direct immediately.
Safe Recruitment and selection of staff
Safer Recruitment Trained:
Ellen Firth (Headteacher)
Sue Earnshaw (Chair of Governors)
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act; therefore, all convictions must be declared. Providing false information is an offence. Appointed staff, governors, regular volunteers, and trainees undergo identity, qualification, and Criminal Records Bureau checks, and have been successfully cleared to work with children. We prioritise the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care.
Prevent Strategy
What is the Prevent strategy?
The UK's Prevent strategy for primary schools is a government-led initiative to safeguard children from radicalization and extremist ideologies by fostering British values. School promotes spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development, emphasizing values such as democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs.
It is a legal duty for schools to protect students from extremist views, teach them to value different beliefs, provide a safe environment to discuss issues, and refer concerns to appropriate support services when necessary.
Our Designated Prevent Lead in school is Ellen Firth.
All staff complete Prevent Training Annually.
